Kennedy could still be a contender, says White

I am not sure whether this piece by Mike White is entirely helpful to Charles Kennedy, but it does show there are other, more respectable commentators than me who think he could plausibly lead the Lib Dems again one day.

There maybe an element of truth in what you say. You obviously haven't read my posting on Sunday. There are many other Lib dems who feel the same.

Well, I have now, Susanne, and I'm glad we're on the same wavelength.

Gran - it's kind of you to say so. For the record I always got on okay with Michael, although I notice he now seems to have become the bete noire of some of our blogging colleagues.

Better the devil you know....

I did some PR work for a woman who runs a clinic for drink and drug addiction in Cambridgeshire and we had great coverage as it coincided with Kennedy's resignation.

Yes, particularly if he stands against either Featherstone (prone to verbal slips such as 'the Guildford Six and the Birmingham Four') or Nick Clegg (maybe too right-wing for the wider party membership - and looking rather overpromoted as Home Affairs spokesman).

I really do think that you are deluding yourself Paul.

I cannot see that Charles could be leader again unless he stopped drinking completely.
